Azerbaijan liberated its ancient lands from occupation, says Robert Cekuta

“In a 44 day war, Azerbaijan liberated its ancient lands from the occupation. It is like the strategic earthquake in the region,” said Robert Cekuta, US Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan at the panel South Caucasus: Prospects for Regional Development and Cooperation held within the framework of World after COVID-19, Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

R. Cekuta noted that such strategic change will lead to the formation of a strategic vision: “Peace agreement has not been signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia yet., the ceasefire does not mean peace, both sides do not have complete feel of certainty. We should help both to Azerbaijanis and Armenians, it is also in our interests. If we look at Central Asia and South Caucasus, this region is the least integrated region in the world, and this hinders economic development and prosperity. The US and Turkey cooperated in the field of construction of oil and gas pipelines from the South Caucasus. Efforts in the field of integration of region should continue.”
