Azerbaijan MFA Warns Against Islamophobia Threat to Global Harmony

Baku: "On the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, we reaffirm our firm commitment to respect, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among cultures and religions," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in an X post, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry emphasized that Islamophobia, discrimination, and hatred against individuals because of their faith undermine the very principles of human dignity, equality, and mutual understanding. The statement highlighted the importance of rejecting such prejudice in order to maintain harmonious societies.

The Ministry further elaborated that Islam is rooted in values of peace, compassion, justice, and solidarity. It stressed that misrepresenting or stigmatizing Islam is unacceptable and poses a threat to societal cohesion. The Ministry called for efforts to combat intolerance in all its forms, emphasizing its necessity for building inclusive, peaceful, and resilient societies.
