Azerbaijan Ministry Criticizes Iranian Minister’s Remarks on Education Policy

Baku:Azerbaijan's Ministry of Science and Education has expressed concern and regret over remarks made by Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Simaei-Sarraf regarding education in Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ministry described the remarks as an attempt to interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs. It emphasized that no one would be allowed to interfere in the country's domestic matters, including its education policy, and any such attempts would be firmly rejected.

The ministry urged Iranian officials to concentrate on addressing their own country's issues rather than meddling in the internal affairs of other states. The statement highlighted that, due to Iran's policies, no educational institutions in Iran offer instruction in Azerbaijani, even though approximately 40 million ethnic Azerbaijanis reside in Iran and have been denied the right to education in their native language for decades.

The statement further stressed that Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology, along with other Iranian officials who have commented on the issue, should focus on resolving these problems and correcting decades of injustice instead of interfering in Azerbaijan's domestic affairs.
