Azerbaijan Ministry of Justice Granted New Authority to Utilize Narcotics in Training

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice has been granted new authority to use narcotic substances designated for destruction in training exercises for drug detection conducted by its canine service. This development is part of an amendment to the Presidential Decree ‘On the Implementation of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Circulation of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, and Their Precursors’.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the amendment was signed by President Ilham Aliyev. The decision allows the Ministry of Justice to effectively utilize narcotics, which were previously marked for destruction, as part of their training regimen for drug detection with canine units. This move is intended to enhance the effectiveness and readiness of law enforcement agencies in combating drug-related offenses.
