Sumgayit: The Azerbaijan national football team has emerged victorious in the FIFA Series 2026 international tournament, clinching the title after a closely contested match against Sierra Leone.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the decisive match took place at the Mehdi Huseynzade Stadium in Sumgayit and concluded in a 1-1 draw after regulation time. The outcome was determined by a penalty shootout in which Azerbaijan edged out Sierra Leone with a 9-8 victory.

In addition to their final match success, Azerbaijan showcased a strong performance throughout the tournament, notably defeating Saint Lucia 6-1 in their opening game.
