Azerbaijan, OSCE discuss cooperation issues

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

FM Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance that Azerbaijan attaches to cooperation with the OSCE, as well as the importance of implementation of the cooperation program between Azerbaijan and the OSCE in the current post-conflict period. At the same time, he noted a number of destructive activities of Armenia within the OSCE.

The FM provided detailed information about the recent large-scale provocations carried out by Armenia in the region, as well as the current situation, issues related to the implementation of Tripartite statements, and the initiatives put forward by Azerbaijan in the direction of the normalization of relations between the two countries. The minister also drew attention to issues such as the delimitation of borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as demining. He emphasized that Azerbaijan is in favor of starting the negotiating peace treaty without delay despite the recent military clashes and loss of life.

OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid expressed her concern over the recent clashes, as well as her condolences for the loss of life. The OSCE Secretary-General emphasized the readiness to support the normalization process, taking into account the long-term experience of the OSCE in the region.

The sides also exchanged views on Azerbaijan-OSCE cooperation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
