Baku: Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation led by Chairman of the Standing Committee of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), Chung Eu-yong, to discuss political cooperation in Asia. The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis reported the meeting details to APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering political relations with Asian countries. She highlighted ICAPP’s role as a key mechanism for promoting multilateralism, peace, security, and cooperation in the region. The discussion included insights into the New Azerbaijan Party’s role as the ruling party, its international relations, and its active participation in ICAPP.
Satisfaction was expressed with the New Azerbaijan Party’s representation in ICAPP, noting the significance of events organized under its framework. Particularly, international events like the ICAPP held in Baku and the 4th meeting of the Asian Cultural Council (ACC) were acknowledged for enhancing dialogue between political parties and cultural institutions, fostering mutual understanding, and promoting cooperation based on shared values.
Chung Eu-yong, Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee, acknowledged the importance of Azerbaijan’s relations with ICAPP and highlighted the development of ties with the ruling party. The conversation also covered the future prospects of cooperation between the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev and chaired by the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, and ICAPP, aiming to expand inter-parliamentary relations and deepen mutual understanding in the Asian region.
