Azerbaijan Participates in D-8 International Meeting on Environment

Istanbul: Azerbaijan was represented at the First International Ministerial Meeting of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation held in Istanbul, Trkiye on July 16-17. The meeting was organized within the framework of preparations for COP31 to strengthen cooperation between D-8 countries, coordinate priorities for climate negotiations and shape a common approach.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva. Addressing the event, the Deputy Minister highlighted Azerbaijan's efforts to combat climate change, expand international climate cooperation, and contribute to the global climate agenda.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participating countries adopted the "Istanbul D-8 Ministerial Declaration on Climate Action and Preparation for COP31." The document features a common position on deepening cooperation, strengthening coordination, and increasing joint efforts on climate action among D-8 countries ahead of COP31.
