Azerbaijan Participates in General Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Chess Association

Gaziantep: Azerbaijan has participated in the General Assembly of the Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries, held in Gaziantep, Trkiye. The assembly marked the success of the U16 team chess tournament for Turkic nations, discussing future collaborations through joint projects and events, including additional tournaments planned for 2026.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, member federations of the Association announced plans to approve a comprehensive program for deeper engagement in the coming years. Representing Azerbaijan at the meeting was Ilaha Gadimova, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.

The Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries, which became a member of the International Chess Federation last year, is currently led by the Turkish Chess Federation. The leadership will be handed over to the Kazakhstan Chess Federation in 2026. The secretariat responsibilities have been assigned to Ilaha Gadimova, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
