Baku:Azerbaijan participated in the World Women Parliamentarians' Forum, hosted under the auspices of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the forum, titled 'From Representation to Influence in the Decision-Making Process,' welcomed nearly 150 parliamentarians from 32 countries, along with representatives from nine parliamentary networks and international organizations.
Parvana Valiyeva, a member of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, represented Azerbaijan at the event. She contributed to a panel session addressing the legal environment and the reforms necessary to ensure gender equality. Additionally, she delivered a presentation focusing on the role of citizens, civil society, and the private sector in empowering women across various sectors.
Valiyeva emphasized the activities of civil society institutions in Azerbaijan, particularly the role of NGOs in protecting women's rights and expanding their opportunities. She also discussed significant reforms aimed at supporting women's entrepreneurship and enhancing women's participation in the economy.
During her visit, Valiyeva met with Songobai Zamira, head of the Mongolia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary working group, and other Mongolian officials. The forum provided an essential platform for promoting women's sustained involvement in economic, social, public, and political life, strengthening their role in decision-making, and facilitating the exchange of experiences among countries.
The discussions also underscored the need to increase women's representation in both traditional and emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and countering hybrid threats.
