Baku: Azerbaijan is making significant strides in nuclear forensics by establishing a Nuclear Forensics Laboratory within its Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA). This initiative is part of a collaborative project with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), focusing on enhancing the nation’s capabilities in monitoring and analyzing nuclear and radioactive materials.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the establishment of the laboratory is being executed under the national project AZB1004, titled ‘Expansion of the capabilities of the national laboratory for monitoring and expertise of nuclear and radioactive materials in Azerbaijan’. This project is part of the technical cooperation program with the IAEA, aiming to bolster the country’s infrastructure in nuclear forensics. Personnel training is currently underway to ensure the effective operation of the laboratory, which will play a crucial role in Azerbaijan’s efforts to manage and secure nuclear materials.
