Kars: Azerbaijan is contemplating the establishment of trade houses in the Kars and Igdir provinces of Trkiye as part of its strategy to enhance trade cooperation. This announcement was made by Zamin Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Kars, during the 2nd Azerbaijan-Trkiye Regional Economic Forum held in Nakhchivan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Aliyev emphasized the importance of strengthening trade ties between Trkiye’s provinces of Igdir, Kars, Ardahan, Erzurum, and Agri, and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan, Garabagh, and East Zangezur regions. The strategy includes organizing business forums and increasing reciprocal visits by entrepreneurs to bolster economic collaboration.
Aliyev pointed out the potential for cooperation across several sectors such as agriculture, livestock, logistics, and tourism. He noted that the tourism sector has favorable conditions that could benefit from increased reciprocal tourist visits, thereby raising regional awareness in both nations.
Additionally, Aliyev highlighted the consideration of opening trade houses in Trkiye’s Kars and Igdir provinces, stressing the role of Turkish investors in Azerbaijan’s industrial parks located in Nakhchivan and Garabagh. These parks offer incentives, making them attractive opportunities for investment.
He mentioned an upcoming visit by a business delegation from Kars to the Garabagh region, following a successful visit by Igdir entrepreneurs in June 2025. Aliyev suggested that similar initiatives could be expanded to include the provinces of Ardahan, Erzurum, and Agri.
