Baku: Police in Azerbaijan have conducted a significant anti-narcotics operation, resulting in the seizure of 47 kilograms of drugs and the detention of three suspects. The operation was part of ongoing efforts by the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs under the Ministry of Internal Affairs to curb the illegal circulation of narcotic substances.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the operation took place in both the capital and various regions. The detained individuals, identified as Saddam Asadov, Emin Balakishiyev, and Emin Aliyev, all have previous convictions. Authorities confiscated 47 kilograms of marijuana mixed with harmful substances, along with the psychotropic substance methamphetamine, from the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had established criminal contacts with Iranian citizens, whose identities are currently under investigation. The detainees reportedly obtained narcotic substances from these contacts and intended to distribute the drugs by placing them at pre-determined locations for sale.

A criminal case has been initiated in response to these findings, and the court has decided to impose a preventive measure of arrest on the suspects. Further operational and investigative measures are ongoing to dismantle the network involved.
