Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has issued an Order to establish an Organizing Committee for the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group set to take place in Baku in 2026. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, has been appointed as the Chairman, with Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov serving as the Deputy Chairman.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Committee comprises several high-ranking officials, including Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sahil Babayev, Minister of Finance; Adil Karimli, Minister of Culture; Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Emergency Situations; Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs; Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport; and Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health. Other members include Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee; Elchin Guliyev, Head of the State Border Service; Vusal Huseynov, Head of the State Migration Service; Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency; Taleh Kazimov, Governor of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan; Samir Rzayev, President of ‘Azerbaijan Airlines’ CJSC; and Eldar Azizov, Head of the Baku City Executive Authority.
The Committee is tasked with preparing and implementing an Action Plan for the organization of the Annual Meetings, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank Group. This plan will detail the provisions for hosting the IsDB Group’s Annual Meetings in Baku in 2026 and will address any other necessary issues related to the event.
The Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan will coordinate with the IsDB Group regarding the organization of the Annual Meetings and will act as the secretariat for the Organizing Committee. Furthermore, the Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to allocate the necessary funds in the 2026 draft state budget to cover expenses associated with hosting the Annual Meetings and to manage other matters arising from this Order.
