Horadiz: A large quantity of narcotics has been prevented from being smuggled into Azerbaijan. APA reports citing the Press Center of the State Border Service that efforts to ensure reliable border protection and combat the illegal circulation of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors have been intensified. A border search and operation were conducted in the service area of the Horadiz border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops Command.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the operation successfully prevented 28 kilograms and 118 grams of narcotics from being smuggled from Iran into Azerbaijan. On March 25, authorities seized 22 kilograms and 400 grams of marijuana, along with 490 methadone M-40 tablets, from the same border area.

On April 6, two unidentified individuals were observed behaving suspiciously by a border patrol. Following the search operation, two residents of Agdash district, Bakhshali Bakhshaliyev (born 1993) and Ilgar Karimov (born 1996), were detained while attempting to smuggle 5 kilograms and 718 grams of marijuana into the country. Investigative and operational measures regarding the incidents are ongoing.
