Baku: Individuals in Azerbaijan who produce or distribute pornographic or sexual materials using artificial intelligence technologies without consent are set to face imprisonment, APA reports. This development comes as the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan's legislative body, reviewed a new legal proposition aiming to address the misuse of AI in creating non-consensual explicit content.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the proposed legal change is encapsulated in Article 242-1 of the Criminal Code. It targets the illegal production and distribution of pornographic or sexual photo, video, or audio materials created using AI technologies or special software. The law specifically addresses the issue of using a person's image or voice without consent, and the distribution of such materials through media, internet resources, or telecommunication networks where they are publicly accessible.

The legislative proposal suggests that violators will face imprisonment ranging from three to seven years. Following discussions in the Milli Majlis, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully adopted in the third reading.
