Baku: Azerbaijan has announced an increase in the prices of AI-92 gasoline and diesel, as reported by APA. The price of AI-92 gasoline has risen by AZN 0.05 per liter, now costing 1.15 manats, while diesel prices have increased by AZN 0.10 per liter, bringing the new price to 1.10 manats.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Tariff Council stated that the rapid population growth in major cities and the influx of people into suburban areas have posed challenges to the transport systems and mobility. In response to these challenges, the Public Transport Targeted Budget Fund was established in September 2025, aiming to enhance the sustainability of passenger transportation, improve service quality, and ensure passenger safety. This fund is partly financed through a road tax imposed on each liter of automobile gasoline, diesel, and liquefied gas, which has been set at AZN 0.07 per liter under recent legislative amendments.

The decision by the Tariff (Price) Council to increase fuel prices is aligned with efforts to organize carrier operations according to international standards and practices. The adjustments in fuel pricing are part of a broader strategy to support the evolving transportation needs of Azerbaijan's growing population.
