Azerbaijan Redirects Oil and Gas Funds to Green Transition, Says Deputy Minister

Baku: The Azerbaijani government has taken significant steps towards a green transition, redirecting financial resources previously accumulated from oil and gas to support the process, according to Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov. Soltanov made these remarks on the opening day of the 2nd Baku Climate Action Week.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Soltanov emphasized Azerbaijan’s leadership in the region, achieved through transformative energy policy changes. He highlighted the construction of the region’s largest solar power plant as a part of these efforts. The Deputy Minister also stated that the country aims to create 2 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2027.
