Azerbaijan registers multiple local observers for snap parliamentary election


BAKU: About 480 local observers have been registered in connection with the extraordinary election to the Azerbaijani parliament, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov said, Trend reports.

‘At the moment, 480 local observers have been registered. Of them, 344 are on their initiative, 10 – on the initiative of NGOs, and 126 – observers who received special permission,’ he added.

On June 28, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and calling for an extraordinary election.

The snap parliamentary election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for September 1, 2024.
