Baku: Azerbaijan has successfully relocated another group of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their native village of Kangarli in the Aghdam district, marking a significant step in the nation’s efforts to resettle affected populations. The State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that a new cohort of 48 families, encompassing 206 individuals, has been provided with keys to newly constructed homes in Kangarli.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the handover ceremony was attended by representatives from the Special Representative Offices of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, as well as officials from the State Committee. This initiative is part of a broader effort to restore life and infrastructure in the region, which now hosts over 43,000 people. This population includes former IDPs, government workers, and employees of reestablished facilities across healthcare, education, culture, tourism, industry, and energy sectors.

The latest relocation phase sees 48 families, totaling 207 people, returning to Kangarli. This includes 27 families (112 individuals) from Baku, 15 families (66 individuals) from Aghdam, 3 families (10 individuals) from Barda, and a few families from Absheron, Yevlakh, and Mingachevir. Specifically, 28 families from Baku and Absheron were given a send-off at the ‘Gobustan Park-3’ IDP settlement, while 20 families from Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Aghdam, and Barda joined the relocation convoy at Tazakand village.

The relocated individuals were welcomed by employees from the Special Representation of the President in the respective districts. Measures for their settlement in residential areas were taken, with the process receiving significant media coverage. With this recent relocation, a total of 157 families, comprising 694 people, have now been resettled in Kangarli village.
