Baku: As of August 1, 2026, the number of salaried employees in Azerbaijan reached 1,781.1 thousand, with 836.9 thousand employed in the public sector and 944.2 thousand in the non-state sector, as reported by the State Statistical Committee to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the distribution of salaried employees across various sectors is diverse. A significant portion, 18.9%, is involved in trade and repair of motor vehicles. Education employs 17.5%, while 13.9% of employees work in the industrial sector. Healthcare and social services account for 8.6%, followed by construction at 6.8%, and public administration, defense, and social security at 6.1%. The transportation and storage sector employs 4.4%, professional, scientific, and technical activities 3.9%, financial and insurance activities 2.5%, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing 2.3%. The remaining 15.1% are engaged in other sectors of the economy.

The average monthly nominal salary of salaried employees saw a 7.2% increase in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period in the previous year, reaching AZN 1,176.7.
