Azerbaijan Resettles 1,040 Former Internally Displaced Families in Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly

Khankendi: Azerbaijan has successfully resettled 1,040 families, totaling 4,064 individuals, who were previously internally displaced, back to their native lands in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the announcement was made by Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in these regions, during his speech at the Cooperation Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations held in Khankendi.

The resettlement plan encompasses 19 residential areas, and so far, more than 22,000 people have been relocated. All the resettled individuals have been provided with essential social services. The region’s infrastructure, including education and healthcare facilities, is being swiftly rebuilt. Key developments include the opening of Karabakh University, a state-of-the-art clinic, schools, and kindergartens. Additionally, efforts to boost entrepreneurship have led to the establishment of 546 business facilities, employing over 3,000 individuals, with a total investment exceeding 65 million manats.

Elchin Yusubov highlighted the critical role of non-governmental organizations in the development of these liberated territories. NGOs are pivotal in implementing state policies, enhancing public oversight, promoting social projects, and facilitating the reintegration process.
