Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, recently met with Jin-Hyun Paik, a candidate from the Republic of Korea vying for a judge position at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed this information to APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting involved discussions on activities within international organizations, notably focusing on the upcoming ICJ judge elections. Jin-Hyun Paik shared insights into his professional background, his experience in international law, and the priorities he intends to pursue at the ICJ.
Minister Bayramov highlighted the significance Azerbaijan places on upholding international law, fostering multilateral cooperation, and reinforcing the role of international judicial bodies. In this regard, Azerbaijan's detailed and comprehensive approach to evaluating the professional qualities of ICJ judge candidates was underscored.
The meeting also covered regional security issues, particularly the current situation in the South Caucasus. Minister Bayramov provided insights into Azerbaijan's efforts to maintain sustainable peace and stability in the region following the conflict period.
Additionally, both parties exchanged views on various other issues of mutual interest.
