Azerbaijan Seeks African Cooperation at AUF2 on the Margins of WUF13

Nairobi: Sultan Hajiyev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, participated in a briefing organized by the Kenyan government for the diplomatic corps accredited to the country. The briefing focused on preparations for the 2nd Africa Urban Forum (AUF2), which is set to take place in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, from April 8-10.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Sultan Hajiyev expressed Azerbaijan's interest in collaborating with African countries within the AUF2 platform. He highlighted Azerbaijan's global contributions in climate-resilient urban development, affordable housing, and its extensive experience in post-conflict recovery, reconstruction, and humanitarian demining.

The ambassador also informed the participants about the preparations for the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), emphasizing the importance of African countries' participation in the Summit for the continent. He noted that Azerbaijan, having successfully hosted the COP29 Conference and other significant international events, has taken considerable steps to ensure that WUF13 is conducted at a high level.

Other notable speakers at the event included Alice Wahome, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development.
