Baku: Azerbaijan welcomed a total of 181,637 foreign visitors in January 2026, marking an increase of 8,984 people, or 5 percent, compared to the same period last year.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this growth highlights an upward trend in the country's tourism sector.
The State Tourism Agency reported that visitors from Russia numbered 42,342, reflecting a 2 percent increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, Trkiye contributed 36,536 visitors, a significant rise of 15.5 percent. Iran also showed a modest increase, with 15,399 visitors marking a 2.1 percent uptick.
In South Asia, India accounted for 9,070 arrivals. Notably, Saudi Arabia, the leading market in the Middle East, saw a substantial rise in visitors to 8,976, an increase of 2,783 people or 44.9 percent compared to January 2025, according to official figures.
Other significant sources of visitors included Georgia with 8,734 arrivals, Pakistan with 6,758, Kazakhstan with 5,676, Uzbekistan with 5,130, and Israel with 4,972 visitors. These numbers underscore Azerbaijan's growing appeal as a travel destination.
