Azerbaijan Sees Significant Increase in Smartphone Imports Over Eight Months


Baku: Azerbaijan has experienced a notable increase in smartphone imports during the first eight months of 2024, totaling 904,782 units valued at USD 251 million 717 thousand, as reported by the State Statistics Committee.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this represents a 12.5% rise in volume and a 22% increase in value compared to the same period last year. During January to August 2023, the country imported 803,927 smartphones worth USD 206 million 190 thousand. The average price of imported smartphones also rose from AZN 436 last year to AZN 472 this year.

The majority of these imports were sourced from China, which accounted for 702,814 units, followed by Vietnam with 142,934 units, India with 55,301 units, and the United States with 2,636 units. The cost per unit varied significantly by country of origin, with smartphones from the United States being the most expensive at AZN 1954 each, and those from India being the least expensive at AZN 394 each.

nes totaling USD 143.5 thousand during the same period, primarily to the Czech Republic and Hong Kong. The average export price was AZN 275 per unit.
