Azerbaijan Seizes Large Quantity of Undeclared Medicines

Baku:Azerbaijani customs officials have thwarted an attempt to illegally import medicines from Istanbul into Azerbaijan. This operation was executed by the Main Customs Department for Air Transport, as reported by APA-Economics, citing the State Customs Committee.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, an Azerbaijani citizen, who arrived on a flight from Istanbul to Baku, was stopped after attempting to pass through the "Green Channel" clearance system. The individual was redirected to the "Red Channel," where their hand luggage and baggage were scanned using a stationary X-ray scanner.

The scan revealed suspicious items, prompting a detailed customs examination. This inspection uncovered a large quantity of undeclared medicines, totaling 16,036 units across 36 different types.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to address the illegal import attempt.
