Baku: Azerbaijan's State Border Service has seized contraband valued at 7 million 573 thousand 290 manats during operations in March 2026 aimed at curbing illegal activities at the nation's borders. This significant haul included 541 kilograms and 132 grams of narcotic substances and 17 drug-containing pills, which were confiscated and removed from circulation.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the anti-smuggling operations also led to the discovery and confiscation of various smuggled goods. These included foreign currency of the Russian Federation, ammunition for firearms, medicines, and tobacco products. The Press Center of the State Border Service released a statement acknowledging the successful efforts of the agency in tackling illegal drug trafficking and smuggling activities.
