Azerbaijan Set to Launch National Water Resource Strategy

Baku — Azerbaijan is poised to implement a comprehensive National Strategy for the Efficient Use of Water Resources, aiming to enhance water management and conservation from 2024 through 2040.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Prime Minister Ali Asadov announced the strategy during a session on the draft state budget for 2025, which included discussions on various economic and social development projections. The strategy focuses on improving water usage, management, and pollution prevention throughout Azerbaijan, with specific initiatives to modernize irrigation systems and desalinate seawater.

The initiative also plans to implement targeted measures in key economic regions, including Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, addressing the unique environmental and agricultural needs of these areas. This strategic approach underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable development and resource management as it prepares for future environmental challenges and population growth demands.
