Baku: A requirement has been established for the reclamation of land plots where mineral deposits are located in order to restore them to their previous or alternative useful condition, APA reports. This move aims to ensure that lands used for mineral extraction are returned to a state that can support either their original use or a new, beneficial purpose.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this requirement is reflected in the amendment to the law 'On Subsoil,' which was approved by a Decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev. The amendment, specifically Article 13-1 (Reclamation of subsoil areas), mandates that subsoil users must ensure the reclamation of lands where operations are conducted. The reclamation process is to be guided by a reclamation plan that focuses on preserving, restoring, and improving soil fertility and other beneficial properties, as well as enhancing the environmental state of the area.
The procedure for reclamation in areas where subsoil-related activities are carried out will be determined by the body (institution) defined by the relevant executive authority. This procedure will ensure that all necessary steps are taken to rehabilitate the land and maintain ecological balance.
