Doha: Azerbaijan presented its experience in housing policy at the Second World Summit on Social Development, which took place in Doha, Qatar, from November 4 to 6. A delegation from the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture participated in the event, as disclosed by the Committee to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Committee Chairman Anar Guliyev addressed the session titled ‘Affordable Housing as a Foundation for Social Development.’ He highlighted that Azerbaijan’s national housing policy is a crucial element for social welfare and inclusive development. The policy prioritizes the resettlement of internally displaced persons in Karabakh and East Zangazur, aiming to create sustainable, livable cities.

Additionally, Azerbaijan has been elected co-chair of the Intergovernmental Working Group of UN-Habitat on ‘Adequate Housing for All.’ The country will continue to play an active role in promoting equitable and sustainable housing policies within this initiative.

The World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026, will further discussions in this direction. Anar Guliyev extended an invitation to all partners and countries to participate in this international event focused on ‘Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Settlements.’
