Baku:Azerbaijan has expressed its support for the nomination of Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State, for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. This announcement was made by Aykhan Hajizada, a spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Azerbaijan highlights the significance of a selection process that adheres to the UN Charter and evaluates candidates based on their professional qualifications, diplomatic experience, impartiality, and ability to foster consensus among member states.

Azerbaijan hopes that the selection process will result in the establishment of a more robust and efficient United Nations, capable of addressing contemporary challenges effectively.
