Baku:Azerbaijan has expressed its support for the United Arab Emirates' initiative to nominate Minister of State Lana Zaki Nusseibeh for the position of United Nations Secretary-General. Aykhan Hajizada, spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made this announcement in response to a local media inquiry.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hajizada highlighted the importance of a selection process that adheres to the UN Charter and emphasizes candidates' professional qualifications, diplomatic experience, impartiality, and consensus-building abilities among Member States.

Hajizada further expressed hope that the process will lead to an outcome that strengthens and enhances the effectiveness and responsiveness of the United Nations.
