Azerbaijan Supreme Court Bans Unauthorized Monitoring of WhatsApp Messages

Baku: The Supreme Court of Azerbaijan has announced new specific positions regarding issues related to the inviolability of private correspondence in its Plenum decision 'On the Protection of Personal Rights,' the Supreme Court told APA. The court's decision marks a significant step in addressing privacy concerns related to personal communications.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Plenum decision also states that monitoring a person's WhatsApp correspondence through various means without their knowledge is prohibited. The court clarified that only a parent may check the phone of a minor or a child lacking full capacity without their consent. This ruling underscores the importance of safeguarding individual privacy and sets clear boundaries on the monitoring of personal communications.
