Berlin:Azerbaijan has been chosen as the new coordinator of the Codex Alimentarius Commission for the European region.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this decision was made during the 34th session of the FAO/WHO Coordinating Committee for Europe held in Berlin, Germany. Azerbaijan was proposed to take on the role from Germany, and the proposal received unanimous support from all 52 committee members.

The new responsibilities for Azerbaijan include leading the committee and coordinating cooperation among European countries regarding the Codex Alimentarius Commission's work. This involves focusing on food safety and the implementation of international food standards. Azerbaijan will begin its duties from the next session of the commission.
