Azerbaijan to Ban Import, Production, and Sale of High-Power Incandescent Lamps

Baku: Azerbaijan plans to prohibit the import, production, and sale of incandescent lamps with a power of 60 watts and above starting next year. This development is part of a proposed amendment to the law “On the efficient use of energy resources and energy efficiency,” which has been approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the law outlines that apart from incandescent lamps intended for special use in production processes and products whose primary purpose is not lighting, the import, production, and sale of electric incandescent lamps in alternating current circuits are restricted from specific dates. The ban on incandescent lamps with a power of 60 watts and above will commence on January 1, 2026. Additionally, incandescent lamps ranging from 25 watts to 60 watts will face similar restrictions starting July 1, 2026.
