Azerbaijan to Boost Green Budget Expenditures by Over 16% in 2025


BAKU—A significant increase in budget allocations for environmental sustainability is scheduled for Azerbaijan in 2025. This initiative aligns with Azerbaijan’s five National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development leading up to 2030.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during a comprehensive discussion at the Cabinet of Ministers, Prime Minister Ali Asadov emphasized the commitment to a cleaner environment as a core component of the national development strategy. The meeting addressed the state and summary budgets for 2025, along with the economic and social development concept and forecast indicators for the next three years. The Prime Minister highlighted that this budgetary increase is a strategic component of the broader national vision for green growth, which includes intensified funding for climate change initiatives.



The decision follows the presidential order declaring 2024 as the ‘Year of Solidarity for a Green World,’ underscoring the country’s dedication to environmental issues. The planned budget increase exceeds 16%, reflecting a significant governmental investment in the sustainability sector as Azerbaijan progresses towards its 2030 socio-economic goals.
