Azerbaijan to Develop New Economic Activities Classification Based on EU Model

Baku: A new national 'Classification of Economic Activities' will be prepared based on the European Union classification, APA reports. This initiative is part of the 'State Program for the Development of Official Statistics in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030,' which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the new classification will be developed in 2026-2027, modeled on the European Union's 'Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community (NACE Revision 2.1).' This effort will involve the collaboration of several ministries and agencies. The State Statistical Committee, in conjunction with the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the State Customs Committee, the State Tourism Agency, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and SOCAR, will ensure that data collection, processing, and dissemination are structured around this new classificatio n. Additionally, they will update registries and databases in alignment with the new national 'Classification of Economic Activities.'
