Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Law 'On the Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency,' aimed at strengthening state control over the efficient use of energy resources and improving energy efficiency in Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the amendments will lead to the establishment of an energy efficiency information system designed to ensure the efficient use of energy resources. This system will maintain a register of energy auditors and organizations conducting energy audits, monitor their activities, publicly disclose relevant information, and raise awareness of energy efficiency issues. It will also include data on energy certification of buildings, a list of economic entities and non-residential buildings subject to mandatory energy audits, energy service providers, and related reports.

The amendments further stipulate the inclusion of energy consumer data and detailed information on construction sites within the system. Additionally, the rules governing the operation of the energy efficiency information system will be approved to facilitate its implementation and functioning.
