Baku: A new requirement in Azerbaijan mandates clear labeling for photo, video, and audio materials generated using artificial intelligence. This development was reported by APA and is embedded in the proposed new Article 13-2.7 of the Law 'On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information,' which was deliberated during a session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft legislation requires that publicly displayed AI-generated content must include visible labels indicating their artificial origin. Additionally, Article 388-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses introduces fines ranging from 80 to 150 manats for distributing AI-generated content without proper labels. This applies to media, internet platforms, and telecommunication networks, especially when the distributor is aware of the content's AI origins.

The labeling can be visual, audio, or text-based and should be automatically generated or added to the AI-created content. Following discussions, the draft law was subjected to a vote and passed its first reading.
