Baku: The distribution of fake and sexual content created using artificial intelligence will be banned in the media, APA reports. This initiative is part of the proposed new Article 14.1.13-1 of the Law 'On Media,' which was recently submitted for discussion at a session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft law stipulates that the dissemination of photos, videos, or audio materials that do not reflect reality and are created using artificial intelligence technologies or special software, including pornographic or sexual content, using a person's image or voice without their consent, will be prohibited. In such cases, broadcasting may be temporarily suspended for up to 24 hours by a decision of the Audiovisual Council.

The legislation also addresses the import and distribution of foreign print media in Azerbaijan. A court decision may ban them if they contain such AI-generated content. Furthermore, a court may decide to withdraw already distributed foreign print media products from sale if they violate this requirement.

Additionally, the proposed amendments to the Law 'On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information' require the owner of an internet information resource and its domain name, or a user of an information and telecommunications network, to prevent the placement of such AI-generated materials. These materials include photos, videos, or audio that do not reflect reality and are created using artificial intelligence, using a person's image or voice without their consent.

After thorough discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
