Azerbaijan to Introduce 14 Days of Paid Paternity Leave Under New Labor Code Amendments

Baku: Men will be granted 14 calendar days of paid leave in connection with the birth of a child, based on a certificate issued by a medical institution, covering the period before and after the birth, APA reports. This is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Labor Code discussed at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Regional Affairs.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, currently, at the request of employees, men whose wives are on maternity leave are granted up to 14 calendar days of unpaid leave during one work year. In order to ensure gender equality, it is now proposed that men be granted 14 calendar days of paid leave related to the birth of a child, based on a medical certificate, covering the period before and after the birth.
