Baku: Azerbaijan is poised to play a crucial role in addressing climate change issues for Central Asia during COP29, according to Trend News Agency. The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), scheduled to occur in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, will provide an essential forum for Central Asian countries to confront climate challenges such as water scarcity, extreme weather, and inconsistent agricultural yields.

According to Trend News Agency, the event will enable these nations to collaborate on strategies to enhance their resilience to climate impacts. By engaging in knowledge sharing and partnership discussions, Central Asian countries aim to adopt best practices for climate adaptation and mitigation, thereby strengthening their climate policies and commitments.

A focal point of COP29 will be the discussions surrounding the transit of green energy from Central Asia to Europe through Azerbaijan. This initiative is based on a memorandum of cooperation signed by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, aiming to establish a joint green energy and communication corridor. With the feasibility study approved and the Italian company CESI selected to lead the project, the creation of a joint venture in Baku represents a noteworthy advancement.
