Azerbaijan to Permit Warehouse Storage of Goods with Customs Approval

Baku: Storage of goods in warehouses will now require the approval of the customs authority, as reported by APA. This development is part of recent amendments to the Customs Code discussed in the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan's national legislative body.

According to Azeri-Press News agency, the current system mandates that goods placed under the special customs storage procedure are stored in temporary facilities and customs warehouses operated by licensed entities. The proposed changes aim to lower storage-related expenses by allowing goods to be stored, with customs authority permission, in warehouses that comply with the standards set by the relevant executive authority. Other storage locations, agreed upon with customs authorities, will also be permitted. This amendment holds significant implications for participants in foreign trade.

Following the discussions, the draft law was subjected to a vote and successfully adopted in its third reading.
