Baku: Azerbaijan has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the top position in the UN’s 2025 “Global Study on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation.”

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the results of the study were shared by the Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms, highlighting Azerbaijan’s exceptional performance in foreign trade reforms within the Asia-Pacific region from 2023 to 2025.

Nijat Hajizade, head of the department at the Center, reported that Azerbaijan excelled by achieving 100% effectiveness in key areas such as transparency, formal procedures, institutional cooperation, and coordination. The nation’s performance in paperless trade and cross-border paperless trade was also noteworthy, with scores of 92.59% and 72.2% respectively.

The study further noted significant improvements in Azerbaijan’s trade facilitation indicators over the years. Since 2015, transparency has increased by 53.3 percentage points, formal procedures by 50 percentage points, and institutional cooperation by 33.3 percentage points. Additionally, paperless trade improved by 37 percentage points, and cross-border paperless trade by 50 percentage points during the same period.

Overall, Azerbaijan’s consistent enhancements in these areas have positioned it seventh in implementation performance globally. The country also leads among Northern and Central Asian nations, as well as landlocked developing countries included in the study’s regional classification.
