Baku:Men who were married to residents of non-occupied districts in Azerbaijan before internal displacement circumstances arose will now receive internally displaced person (IDP) status, along with their children. This development comes as an amendment to the existing rules, ensuring that these individuals also receive identification cards confirming their status.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons introduced this amendment. Previously, only women in similar circumstances were granted IDP status and identification cards.
The amendment specifically applies to those who remained registered in occupied districts, despite being married to residents of non-occupied areas. The decision reflects a change in policy to include men and their children, aligning their rights with those previously extended to women and their children under the same conditions.
