Baku: Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation following the burning of the Turkish flag during a torchlight procession in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on April 23. The Ministry expressed its disapproval through a statement released to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Azerbaijani MFA emphasized that the Armenian government should have intervened to prevent the event, which they described as being rooted in ethnic hatred. The Ministry criticized the lack of timely security measures to avert such incidents.

The statement further criticized the Armenian authorities for allegedly ignoring these actions under the guise of democratic norms, freedom of assembly, and expression. The Azerbaijani MFA called these acts a demonstration of a revanchist and ethnically motivated mindset, urging for condemnation and prevention at an international level.

The Azerbaijani government has called on Armenia to hold those responsible accountable, stressing the importance of addressing such actions to maintain regional stability and mutual respect among neighboring countries.
