Azerbaijan Warns Against Fake Reports of Ministers’ Statements on Aircraft Incident

Baku: Reports claiming to be from Azerbaijan’s defense and foreign ministers about the downing of a Belarusian aircraft in Russian airspace have been debunked as fake. A number of social media accounts had circulated these false statements, which were purportedly made on behalf of the ministers, using sophisticated ‘deep fake’ technologies.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, these misleading videos are a clear attempt at information manipulation, designed to distort public opinion. The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan highlighted that the videos were artificially generated with the help of artificial intelligence technologies.

The agency emphasized the importance of relying on information from official sources. It urged Azerbaijani citizens, journalists, and public activists to adopt a principled approach against such misleading incidents. Additionally, the agency stressed the need for vigilance in an era where false and deceptive content campaigns, driven by deep fake technologies, are increasingly common.
