Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov participated in the Global Ministerial - Panel Discussion held in Eilat, Israel, as part of 'Sea the Future: The 2nd Global Summit on Blue Food Security,' which concludes on January 15.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the minister addressed the panel discussion on 'Global Leadership in the Blue Food Security Process.' He outlined Azerbaijan's long-term strategy for the development of fisheries and aquaculture, focusing on the protection of aquaculture resources in the Caspian Sea and inland water bodies. This strategy aims to contribute to the country's food security through sustainable development.

Majnun Mammadov noted that in previous years, Azerbaijan's approach to aquaculture development was primarily from an environmental protection perspective. While this approach remains, he highlighted that enhancing the economic potential of aquaculture has now become an important component of the strategy. He stated that building fisheries policy on transparent and scientifically grounded mechanisms allows for both ecosystem protection and the efficient use of existing resources.

The minister also emphasized the importance Azerbaijan places on applying scientific innovations, using advanced technologies, and expanding international cooperation in the development of fisheries and aquaculture.

Other speakers at the discussion highlighted the potential for joint scientific research, the organization of advanced training and capacity-building programs, and the expansion of trade relations and international cooperation with countries that have achieved success in aquaculture.
