Azerbaijani and Omani Parliamentary Leaders Discuss Bilateral Relations

Muscat: Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova met with Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman, on January 29, as part of her official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Speaker of the Shura Council, Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, expressed gratitude to Speaker Sahiba Gafarova for accepting the invitation and visiting Oman. He highlighted the positive level of political and other relations between the two nations, emphasizing the vital role that parliaments play in fostering these ties. He noted that the visit of the Azerbaijani Speaker would further enhance mutual relations.

The discussions underscored the significant contribution of inter-parliamentary relations to both bilateral and multilateral engagements between Azerbaijan and Oman. The activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups were identified as being particularly important in this context. Additionally, the role of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement was acknowledged as crucial platforms for collaboration.

Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali also remarked on the economic progress of Azerbaijan under its leadership. The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on various topics.
